-Carry the iPod shuffle in one hand. -Hold the power button down to turn on the iPod shuffle. -The screen will illuminate and show the word "shuffle" with a bouncing ball icon. This indicates that the iPod shuffle is in shuffle mode. To play songs, press and hold the power button until you hear a beep, then release it while still holding down the power button. To pause at any time, press and hold the power button again until you hear a beep, then release it while still holding down the power button.
